    Is this a mechanism that decreases muscle tone? I'm referring to (can't remember the source) which said that gentle stretch of the nerve will decrease muscle tone, stronger will provoke paresthesia.

      Not at all. This is the primary process involved by neurons: Messaging. Its transmission may be perturbed by stretch, compression. If the message is perturbed, a consequence is, of course, possible in muscles.
