  • New Physio file sharing website - www.physioSHARE.com

    Hi everyone,

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place (please let me know). Just to let you know of a new free physio site to promote sharing of information. You can download patient education articles, protocols and other useful information that have been uploaded by your colleagues.

    The site is http://www.physioSHARE.com

There are about 70 files at the moment but hopefully as more physio`s use the site then this number will grow.

Have a look and any comments would be useful. I`m trying to promote this worldwide as part of my CPD. If you have any presentations or in-service training modules, or patient education articles you have created then you can upload to the site for others to share. You will always be credited for the work but it allows others to develop further what you may have started.

    Enjoy,

    Carl

Carl, a link is fine by me, personally.. SomaSimple is technically Bernard's site, so permission needs to come from him, if from anyone; I can't see why anyone would object, really.

I love your idea of turning the wheels of change and improvement faster by sharing resources instead of reinventing the wheel, using the internet to educate ourselves, and also the idea of a "commonwealth" of thinking (free, noncommercial). :teeth: :thumbs_up

I've already joined your site and will take a longer look when I've a good length of time to do an exploration rather than just a cursory look. Thanks again.

I'm glad you will be visiting us/contributing here!

            Thanks Emad,

I will look forward to your comments. I guess the more work is uploaded the more it will become useful. I have just written to our UK Chartered Society of physiotherapy (http://www.csp.org.uk ) to see if they will put a small promo in their UK magazine.

This is just a small scale CPD project at the moment but hopefully it may grow. Thanks again for the comments,

            regards

Great idea Carlos. I have many neurodynamic exercise handouts with pictures that I will send your way. I've been meaning to put them on somasimple anyway.
                      Thanks

                        Hi Carlos,
Would you be willing to share a bit of info, like, how long you've been a PT? What sort of PT you do, general interests, etc. Looks like you have some computer expertise, for sure. :teeth: Only if you want..

Thanks for all your comments guys,

I must say this is an excellent site for communication.

In response to Cory - thanks that would be great to upload some of your work. Let me know if there is not an appropiate section to put it in and I will create one.

In response to Diane, I was trained in London and now approx 5 years post qualification. I spent a number of years in the NHS but now work in an occuaptional setting 3 days a week working with people with upper limb disorders and occuaptional issues. In addition I work 1 day a week with student musicians with similar issues. Finally a day is spent in private practice. I love the variety but the daily commute into London is a bit of a grind ! Looking to move by the coast at some point for a bit more balance.

Prior to physio I trained in Sport Science and worked in the health and fitness field for a number of years before extending my skills to where I am today. I maintain my fitness throughout the year and regularly participate in triathlons - but I`m no athlete !!

I have some basic knowledge of computers and learnt to write basic programmes at 18 years - however much of this knowledge was lost and I have had to relearn over the last several months. Luckily the web is a great place to get free computer code ! I designed physioSHARE primarily so I would have a database of articles that I could access in a variety of different workplaces. However I realised I could never write all the patient education sheets or keep them updated so designed the site so we could share useful information among our profession and make our life a bit easier. The site has taken 7 months to complete but I guess it will remain work in progress for many more months and I will maintain it as part of my professional CPD.

In response to Emad, thanks for the support. I never thought about developing the forum on physioSHARE other than for requesting information from colleagues and perhaps suggesting ways to improve the site. I think this forum is great and I would ask whether we need another forum. Perhaps far better to keep our debate going in one or two places rather than several. Forums take a lot of work to make them successful and I feel my strength is probably in site design/usability - i.e make the file sharing bit work better. I`m open to suggestions but will definitely create a link for this forum on the physioSHARE site.

Again, thanks for all your support,

                            regards

                            Carl
