ANdy and Max,
Yesterday Nick wrote in post #4 of the “time machine” thread that he’d spent what little time he had for lunch listening to the Paris interview.
I feel fairly certain that his co-workers are thrilled to work beside someone so engaged with the work – not.
Nick?

Meso=just the heap of bricks
Ecto=process of building with them; mortar-making, waiting until it's ready, timing of trowelling thereof.
Meso=Are they lined up straight?
Ecto=Were they laid and lined with care and minimalist finess, at the right time with optimal mortar?

Of course, they never read so they have to make reality up as they go along. Someone like me is quickly marginalized. Where I'm working now a couple of the staff refer to me as "the professor."
It's an insult.
Quite apart from the meso-/ectoderm conflict, I've also encountered this notion of anti-discussion among peers in all types of situations.
Funily, some peers I have had discussions with (about manual techniques, approaches or scientific background) have just moved their goalposts right along during the discussion.
In the end, they feel like they were right all along and the whole potential of learning and improving (on both sides) seems diminished.

I recently had one colleague ask where I went for intellectual stimulation, several answers crossed my mind - eventually I simply said here

Max,
I've been in London, but not to teach. Several invitations have not panned out. Maybe one day I'll get one that does.

Paula,
If you can manage the airfare, (and don't mind a full house vibe,) you can crash at my place no problem. I'm sure we can find a spot for you. Fred's clinic is a 20-25 minute drive from my place.

I think I'll have to pass by your neck of the woods, Diane (and Barrett's as a matter of fact) when I'm in North America next time, in hopes of maybe getting some hands on instruction from you guys (or just the possibility of shadowing).
This is truly intriguing stuff and trying them out on fellow students has been a very interesting experience...
Edit: Have you ever done workships overseas, as in Europe?Last edited by MaxG; 21-12-2011, 11:40 PM.

no pressure, Diane
Truly, no pressure. Even if I can't be taught by you in person, I consider myself lucky to have this form of exposure to your ideas. Many thanks for all the ideas you gift to us, your DNM manual, the slide show and book deconstruction/summaries. :clap2:

Gee Paula, the possibility of disappointing you is now huge. :sad:
Anyway, contact Michael Reoch in post 47. I think he's working out some kinks these days re: maybe something next summer in Vancouver.

come back to Vancouver!
Diane,
If you can swing a teaching gig in Vancouver I will move heaven and earth to get there! I can't financially manage a trip to Quebec but Vancouver?....Heck, I would swim across "the moat" between Vancouver Island and the mainland to learn from you.
Wishing and Hoping,
Paula G.
