Power point presentation for a program in florida.
cory
Cory, thanks for the link - it was well put together, and up to date as far as I could tell.
The salient feature of any chronic pain syndrome is recognition of the risk factor in patients who have ongoing pain beyond the three months. That is difficult, but family doctors are among the ones who are going to pick up these people at risk. Too often they continue with drugs and wild goose chases around physiotherapists; but by the same token, PTs should be able to recognise the risk factors as well.
Interesting that the clinic in the presentation aims to eliminate opioids; not all clinics try to do this, but some I have heard of encourage their use..
So I see as the take-home points from the presentation:
The risk of CPS must be identified early by MD and PT;
and passive therapy must be avoided at all costs. (This is a major problem for PTs treating potential CPS patients with hands-on and modalities)
Are you going to post to RE?
Thanks again
