the chapter on control of pain is : R.K. Portenoy, Control of Pathological Pain

Is it worth having this AND Strong's Textbook of Pain?

Yup. I'd say so. It looks really good. It's subtitled, Handbook of perception and cognition.
Mary, haven't got to chapter 8 (Portenoy's section) yet.
