Hi Somasimplers,
I met some huge human beings to care! They were totally unable to lift up their shoulders!
It worked fine facing to a mirror but if I applied a resistance they failed again.
They all (all) tried to stop breathing and lift the chest right up, as in a military salute, a typical pattern of green light reflex.
I found a way to break it simply! While they are sitting for the realization of movement, I push them forward breaking the reflex?
It seems to work.

Hello Lin and Welcome to Somasimple Board,
Lifting up the shoulders is done normally by Traps muscles (of course, there is other as SCM...).
Many time, we met patient with tight shoulders and they have sometimes headaches and pain.
Often, these patients are totally unable to control smoothly their Traps muscles and they are unable to relax them.
A good way to learn is
1/ augment the contraction to feel the wrong way and then help them with our hands (or a mirror) to let the shoulders go down.
The movement must be done slowly, it lets brain to feel all the steps between relaxation and contraction.
The 3 pictures are only the first step, the relaxation is done in the reverse direction.
