It's a bit of a short notice but the 31st Scientific Session of the Midwest Pain Society conference is this Oct. and may be interesting to some here (see pdf). I see Julie Roth will be presenting. Yeah Julie:clap2:

Her topic is titled Recent advances in physical therapy treatment of chronic headaches

Also a "Yeah" :teeth: to Marie Hoeger Bement, PT PhD who won an APS Future Leaders in Pain Small Grants to study "Acute hormonal fluctuations as a mechanism for exercise-induced hypoalgesia in women"

Finally a yeah to Laura Frey Law, PhD PT for winning a 2007 Young Investigator Travel Award :clap1:

Hope to see some folks there.

Great, Jon it will be great to put a face to the name! I'm working on my slide presentation right now. I have 45 minutes to devote to the topic, for an audience that I presume is mostly physicians and psychologists and maybe some nurses with a PT or two for extra fun. So I also presume most will know very little about biomechanical contributions to headache, or what PTs do for them. So my challenge is to cover the basics regarding cervicogenic contribution to chronic headaches (assuming I don't need to cover things like convergence theory and referred pain in this group), review some of the recent outcomes literature, introduce the concept of neurodynamics, and discuss how the latter should inform PT treatment. Did I say I have 45 minutes? I don't feel I can skip the intro and basics given the diverse audience.... Anyway, should be interesting, hopefully fun :D

Hi Julie,

Anyway, should be interesting, hopefully funI look forward to it and it sounds like I'll be learning something. I always enjoy the annual APS conference but have never been to the Midwest chapter conference. I'm sure you'll do fine. Diane would manage to get 75 slides in during that time slot, ask her for some tips;) (that's an inside joke for Diane).

Wow Julie. Good for you. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes, the questions you get, etc. At least you'll have a "plant" in the audience.

Hi Julie,
Can't wait to hear how it goes. Good luck.
Would you let Jon take pictures? It would be great to have a post conference thread with pictures. It could be in Sounds of Silence if you are a bit shy. :)
Maybe you would be willing to share your show there too, later?

Pictures! Yikes. I'll reserve my opinion on that one and think about it :embarasse But yes, I'd be happy to share my slide presentation. I have NO idea how to go about doing that....

It's possible to attach it. But it has to be less than 4.8 KB size. If it's bigger, you have to split it into two. The slides with pictures on them take up more file size than straight text does. Looking forward. :)

It's 7.69 MB so far. Not quite done. Is that big?

I guess so. The max file size for a power point attachment here is 4.88 MB. (Did I say KB in a previous post? I was so wrong... it's MB.)

You would have to break it up into two shows of 3 or 4 MB each.

Jon, did you go to the APS conference in DC this summer? I was there too. To bad we didn't know we're on the same wavelength then! MW Pain meeting sounds good. Wish I could be there. Donna

Hi Donna,

Yes I was in DC. I think another SomaSimple participant, Mike Sangster, was there also if I'm not mistaken.

For anyone interested, next year's APS conference is in Tampa, Fl. (http://www.ampainsoc.org/meeting/)
