Emad,

This subject is certainly one of the most important for our profession.
How to care people if we haven't any chance to discover who they are and how to speak to them!

Bernard:

Even i belive listening is a priority than speaking .

I prefer to give listening 60 % in relation to only 40% to speaking in the process of commuincation.

You are so right - if we spent more time listening to the story from the patient, we would find out more relevant things than are written on a subjective assessment 'list'.

My problem is with those who talk too much about other things - social talk and medical sagas- and we then have to steer them by asking the right questions.

What are the right questions? I am sure we all ask different ones.

Hi Nari :

You are right the problem they want to speak extensively in all aspects and relations ,however sopmetimes i think just listening to their social problem could be a type of treatment ,they need someone to listen.

Regarding the Questions , i think to some extent those Questions are similar from all physios.

Yes, i agree
In my 4 th grade clinical practice ( i was a student), i really thought that communication was very important in PT professional. All chronic patients in all over the word need take a long time to cue his/her pain and disorders, and PTs always go with him/her in this peroid. We have to do more listen and know their questions. Maybe Dr. is busy, but PT can do this well i think. By the way, these patients need our support, right. Sometimes i fell psychologic support is absolutely importment.
