Any one know if the use of a corticosteriod through phonophoresis with a patient currently taking antibiotics to treat lyme's is ok or not?

Hi Jeremy.
Phonophoresis doesn't work, but if it did, it would be perfectly safe. The theoretical dosing is small and localized.

As an aside, I was having my equipment calibrated recently and was told that the phonophoresis agents, besides not working clinically, actually heat up the crystal and cause it to deteriorate sooner because the agent doesn't actually get through the skin, it just sits on the phoressor's head. You can check with your ultrasound manufacturer to verify.

Or just throw your ultrasound unit away completely...

This diagnosis of hip bursitis, is this your assessment, or that of an MD?
