View Full Version : Neural Taping
Hi ;
Seems taping works very good when taping over the nerve espicially areas where the nerve comes superficial , i tapped a young boy with whole lower limb pain and severe CNS sensitivity just over the peroneal nerve near the fibula head ,the following session/visit reported very good outcome and free ankle motion.
Cheers

I am familiar with kinesiotape and use it a fair amount...if you are not familiar with this term for the tape...it is a stretchable tape that can be applied in many different ways, with different tensions/pulls on the tape to achieve different results, etc.
I am curious how you used the tape in this instance...what technique?? What type of tape?
Thanks
Tracy
Hi Tracey;
First of all the new point here taping the nerve and where it comes superficial could give great outcomes espicially in TOO sensitive neural/neurogenic pain .
There was great discussion here regarding using of taping in bracial plexus cases here you are the link http://www.somasimple.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2253&highlight=Brachial
Since that discussion i began to use taping within my practical work with quite good outcomes .
That boy is working heavey job as plumber assistant ,i assessed him to find severe pain around the hip medial aspect espicially along to the knee ,can not bear /tolerate knee or hip motions as well i tried to assess the ankle there was pain and tightness along whole the limb .I tested by percussion the peroneal just near the head of the fibula which gave me numbness along the whole leg .
No sleep ,can not lie over that limb , i tried taping at the Gluteus posterior aspect several times which gave me good outcome ( because the boy can not give up working)
The last time ,i decided to tape the peroneal near the head of the fibula which gave me great free ankle movement and knee ,to be accurate the tightness /tension of the muscles decreased allowing more fre motion .
This of course besides educating the boy toward the appropriate postions taken in sleep and how to avoid evoking pain .
Attached an image near the Superficial peroneal nerve in the image was my tape it was small in area around 4 cm and 1 cm in width .

Of course you can share here your experience with taping , i think taping nerves in upper limbs where they come superficial could work , i will apply that practical , as for the material Do you think the materail could affect the outcome ,i am using different materials but think not intended for that purpose .

Hi all ;
I noticed something new at least for with taping .
When i tap a certain location /area/site /spot , the patient comes to me the following 2 days saying ,yes pain disappeared from the spot but it apperared beside it exactly ,this week 2 of my patients reported the same experience !
Cheers
