Allodynia? Maybe the patient has it.

Does this mean ,it is better to avoid Touch a case of pain complicated with allodynia ! In another meaning when there is severe senitivity it is better to avoid addressing .

Emad, you were touching with cold metal ultrasound, rather than a warm human hand. I'm thinking I wouldn't rule out "touch" based on that.. maybe the "feel" of ultrasound was noxious to her. (It always was for me, and I'm not allodynic.) Or, maybe she's allodynic.

When I used to use ultrasound, maybe once a fortnight or less, some patients reported pain, sharp stinging. Even on low doses.

I figured that on chronic pain states, the vibration or whatever US does, is nociceptive. If we are moving over a small area, it is repetitive stimulation and brains are not too keen on this. As most patients I saw were in chronic pain, it hastened the demise of using it at all. It is primarily placebo, and there are other ways of enhancing placebo response.

Diane ;you are correct i use gel over the head of the appratus which is cold, however i do not reason my patient,s pain evoking to thus cause , but more to the patient,s understanding ,she came to my after a doctor applied for her that Ultrasound therapy for at least 10 minutes, then she visited me for applying the same procedure, i applied just for moments to avoid pain evoking and it occured, may be she thinks the first doctor is more competent,so that her pain increased.

Nari, right your supposation ,but i applied it within a wide area of skin to avoid the factor you mentioned.

Hi all :

This patient has been hospitalised after i applied for her one session of Ultrasound therapy by the First doctor (physical medicine Doctor /physicit),then applied for an ultrasound therapy session then pain gone away again !

Do not get surprised , we are so corrupted country with corrupted culture and corrupted brains to hospoitalise a sciatic patient .

best wishes
Emad
