Hello all,

I've made a website, a resource site for my patients to compliment what they take away from the clinic. I'm curious to know what you think of it.

www.attainandsustain.com

Cory, I really like your well thought out content. The more we explain pain to people the better. :thumbs_up
Just one little picky point.. how are people going to find you? No address or phone # could I find. (Maybe it's there somewhere and I just didn't see it?) ;)

Cory, this is good stuff, with balance and great cross-referencing.

I suspect you are adding your contacts (address, tel no.) later?

What do you think about some diagrams....for example, showing the paths of the three UL nerves and one of the femoral and sciatic nerve, as a minimum?
I find patients are rather interested in how long these structures are, and how they shorten, lengthen when one moves, just as the muscles do.

Cory,
I like what you have done here. I am preparing to move into a private practice in a couple of months and as one of my projects I have been thinking of creating something like this for myself. How long did it take you to put this together?

Hi Cory,
It is a great site and you may post it in The Surfing Amigos.
I found a little "cosmetic" bug in the name of the site on the index page =>
attainandsustain.com the "m" of com seems to be an "n". The size of the field seems to be too short?

Cory, I found about 10 typos/syntax errors but I'm sure you are aware of them! Ater all, this is only a draft...drafts are open to mistakes because one's mind is on the context, not the text!

Nice looking site Cory. Did you just open your own private practice?

Thank you all very much for the critiques!

Eric,
It took me a couple of weeks to get the content written and sounding the way I wanted. Then I bought microsoft publisher and started on the web design. It has some nice templates, and that was a good place to start. Then you just change it how you want for fitting your needs, like the pictures (mine is a picture of mt. rainier in washington that I took from pinnacle peak) and links. Publisher is pretty simple, but I still ran into problems, maybe because it was too simple and wouldn't let me add my links the way I wanted without fuss. Overall, I've been working on it for around 3 weeks probably. Someone who is computer savvy and a good writer would do it MUCH quicker.

Thanks Marc and Bernard for finding the errors. And thank you Bernard for the invitation to post it! Nari, I might be aware of some of the ones you noticed, but at this point I don't see the forest from the trees anymore, having stared at this stuff for a while. Any pointing in the direction of anything you noticed would be greatly appreciated.

Jon,
This is a stride in the direction of opening my own place. To this point, I have been a good employee and always allowed whatever I bring to the table to be incorporated into the "greater good" of the clinic. But, I am now stepping out a bit and for the first time hoping to accomplish some name recognition in anticipation of doing my own thing. However, I have thought for quite a while that a site such as this would be useful in daily practice for my patients.

Diane,
I am actively pursuing your model for a practice. I have read your thread on RE probably a dozen times in the past few months. Thanks for your shared wisdom. I may be asking you some questions soon, if you don't mind.

Thanks again everyone for taking the time to look it over. I hold the opinions here in high esteem.

Cory, I'd be delighted to help you any way I can. Delighted. :)
I would like to add that I think your writing is very good, clear, able to get the story across in a good simple way. It's work to take something complex and write it down in such a way that readers of any educational level can get it. :thumbs_up

Thanks alot Diane. I was thinking that maybe I could post my questions and ideas and update as I go along, and we could turn my process of getting out on my own into a web version of reality TV (although I hate most reality TV) and maybe it could be a good resource for other folks who are thinking of doing the same thing. I know there are a lot of us out here. What do you think?

I think that is a good idea. If people see someone doing it in real time, they will be sparked. Possibly mirror neurons will be activated. :)

What a nice website Cory! The title of your site is very original. Nice work!

Jon,

If I may, I believe this freedom (http://myweb.cebridge.net/cdadams/Braveheart%20Soundtrack%20-%20Freedom%20Theme.mp3) song/clip is one of the greatest! Can you guess where it's from? :)

Hi Chris,

I couldn't open that file for some reason.

My apologies Jon. Do you have Windows Media Player? If not, then it won't open. The link is to a brief segment of the "Freedom" song at the end of Braveheart...one of my favorite movies.

Hi Chris,

I tried to check it out on both a Mac and a PC and it didn't open for either. Ah well.

Sorry Chris, I have the works - Win media, real player, etc. and I couldn't open it either. And I like Braveheart music, too!!

The above link is now repaired...I think. ;)

It worked! Stirring sort of music, though for me it was one of those films which I didn't like one moment and liked the next.

Chris, you have aged suddenly...what are you metamorphosing into ???

Cory-

This is very nice. I have had a cognitive-behavioral pain education program on the back burner for a year now (damn you tDPT program!), and your text sounds a lot like what I want to cover in my briefings.
I'd love to add your website to the list of "resources" in the briefing, but only with your permission, of course.

Great job!

Hi Jason,
Of course you may reference it. Thanks for the feedback!

By the way, I'll hopefully have the little errors that were mentioned above, as well as some others that I found, fixed today.

LOL Nari! Just call me Master Yoda from this point forward. ;)

Chris,

I added your site to my favorites...as I'm sure most everyone else who has had a peek did as well. Maybe I'll work up enough gall one day to do the same.

Diane

(Chris, it doesn't take gall, it just takes time, clarification, and personal evolution. :))
