i 'got this machine and wanted to try it with a young left hemiplegic patient
i got some spasticity and did 3 years of rehab with some physios...
the idea is to measure a force (and direction of this force) with a stable pattern
he then has to use the biofeedback with a mobile "ground"
left side has better result than right side... any ideas?
hi Cedric ;
I can not grasp a good view for the machine from the picture you pasted above .
Regarding Rt/Lt hemiplegia , the issue does not depend only if the patient is Rt or Lt only , the whole recovery depends on more than one factor.
I hope ,if we could a good view for the machine from another link .

Emad

Cedric,
I resized the pictures.
And I need more clues about the machine and why are you saying he works best on left side than R one.
On pictures, it is not clear!
Is the balance better on picture 2 or 3?

pictures are here to give a general impression of the patient on the machine..
in fact it is a biofeedback in movement (the machine makes a movement and you have to make a good score on the biofeedback on your hand)

why do we have better score on the left (he's left hemiplegic)

Cedric,
I just resized the pictures and put them as attachments (enlarge them by simple click)
Photo 2 or 3?

both of them this is just a view of two different positions of the "plateau" wich is doing circles...

Cedric,
I have some difficulty to fully understand the goal but It may be simply because the left arm works fine with the R leg. It is a normal motor pattern. Remember Kabat and PNF.

Hi cedric
he then has to use the biofeedback with a mobile "ground"Is the patient on mobile step? or mobile tread mill belt?
U got some spasticity! Did u want the spasticity? or u mean to say he was flail & flaccid & now is atleast having spastic tone?
and did 3 years of rehab with some physios... i did not understand this statement!
the idea is to measure a force (and direction of this force) with a stable pattern in this idea of generating & measuring the force, do u believe that many unwanted muscles could help (ALL scapular & trunk muscles can help. U can very well see it on the picture!) & the shoulder muscles may not at all!
Besides he is a young patient, will be easily motivated to generate tremendous force with the "TOY" biofeedback that challenges him to do better & better to score more!
Are U satisfied with what u have achieved? & what plan do u have next?
What is your goal? Any direction?
Cedric
I have looked at these photos for a while now and cannot really see the point of the machines.
Is it just movement you are aiming for? Balance?
It is hard to see what such a machine could achieve.

sorry about my broken english, i will try to explain
to answer rajul:
the patient is on a mobile rotating ground
i made a mistake : he may have some spasticity but is able to control some movements, the idea is to make movement, efforts without spasticity
he did 3 years of rehab before, so was a bit in the need of some changes in the rehab program to keep motivation on top.
the idea is not to score more power but much more precision ;)
the physio is there to show him the correct movement, the patient has to be under control all time.
My idea si to improve precision, balance, dissociation of the belts...

Hi Cedric
Huber is having some movements & also having some spasticity & you as well as the patient both desire to have movement effortlessly without spasticity.
Good, BUT how to do it? the patient has to be under control all time.Do u agree external help, only makes it as long as the help or machine is there, problem is long term carry over & ability of CNS to execute movement automatically subcortically?
Do u agree that after 3 years Huber needs results to motivate him to go on. change of exercise, if not productive, patient might feel more frustrated & depressed or pessimist!
I can not really lead u from India BUT few tips on how to look at brain recovery might be possible if u so desire.
