Hi all ;

I think the physiotherapy& manual therapy literature neglect the issue of edema /fliud stasis in the presence on neurogenic pain , even through our clincal reasoning process to assess the case , we do not care /give attention to the state of even just feeling of edema of the dorsum of the hand in case of neck pain.

Those days , thus attracted my attention in cases of cervical neurogenic pain ,the patient complains , sir , is my feeling of hand edema true , or i imagine thus , i feel like my rings are being tight , or my hand fingers are swelled.

Am i right to say , we neglect thus issue ? :?:

cheers

Emad, I think you are right that the initmate relationship between the nervous system and the fluid systems are ignored by manual therapy too much of the time.. not by me however.. I'm always wondering how the body is doing with drainage and flow..

I've noticed the puffy hand complaints with T spine area back problems too.

Hi Diane & Bernard:

When looking to cases of cervical neurogenic pain , may be the background of edema of the hand , tightness of Sternocliedomastoid & scaleni muscles .

Diane
yes , thoracic spine pain could lead to the same problem.

Bernard

do you belive lymph drainage could address the problem , by the way i have not studied this technique.

Emad,

MLD is a very effective but my actual knowledge where Motion is a key contributor to problems/recoveries let me say that is necessary to push away, firstly, the muscular/neurogenic barrier before any kind of circulatory treament?

Hi Bernard :

You r right
as SCM is in a tightness state , compressing the venous return , if it relaesed will improve more the venous return.
