Bernard -- hope you can access this link ..

Well now . If you take the time to listen to the Damasio lecture it is brilliant no let me say this again it is BRILLIANT......Some of the others are relevant esp Ekman and Sapolsky but Damasio gives us the evidence for the importance of understanding pain within the context of emotion and feelings ......Critically he says it is the body that has been neglected-- the feedback from viscera and striated muscle is critical in determening the state of the organism . People such as Webber (quoted by the Feldenkrais people) Sherrington and William James told us this years ago and now we have the evidence .
Bernard you will be interested in the discussion of the role of C fibres in homeostatic regulation .....Hope others can access it ........Movement 'massage' etc can have amazing effects !!

I found this thread from a ways back. Thought I would post to refresh it. A lecture from Ramachandran is also in the link.
