View Full Version : Neural Phenomena !
Merry Christmas to all Easterns :love:
Hi all ;
This phenomena , i do not know if i can describe it or not because of English language .
In breif ,this phenomena occurs more in the lower limbs,when you put one limb over the other for certain time period , you loss motor power and feel numbness/tingling , or when you lie over it .
This phenomena is lost in science and medicine books !

Emad, Merry Christmas to you! Are you talking about "neuropraxia"?

Hi All,
Neurapraxia is part of Seddon's classification (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Seddon%27s_classification&action=edit) scheme used to classify nerve (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerve) damage. It is a transient episode of motor paralysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Motor_paralysis&action=edit) with little or no sensory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensory_nervous_system) or autonomic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomic_nervous_system) dysfunction. Neuropraxia describes nerve damage in which there is no disruption of the nerve or its sheath. In this case there is an interruption in conduction of the impulse down the nerve fiber, and recovery takes place without wallerian degeneration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallerian_degeneration). This is the mildest form of nerve injury. This is probably a biochemical lesion caused by concussiom or shock-like injuries to the fiber. In the case of the role nerve, neuropraxia is brought about by compression or relatively mild, blunt blows, including some low-velocity missile injuries close to the nerve. There is a temporary loss of function which is reversible within hours to months of the injury ( the average is 6-8 weeks ). There is frequently greater involvement of motor than sensory function with autonomic function being retained.
Diane,
I don't think that emad thought about neurapraxia but certainly to the common ischemic paresis that occurs while reading, i.e. ... It is the pins and needles growing with some prolonged posture. :lightbulb
Thanks Diane :
Neuropraxia is a pathological condation , but what i am speaking of is not considered pathological , because the symptoms disapper completely after 5-10 minutes.
I have never read about it in English science /medicine rescources.
