Hello SomaSimplers,

Indeed, good reading. It seems to me that every woman under the sun is at risk of: hypertension, osteoporosis, DVT, obesity, CVAs, etc etc.

Not only is it good for the drug companies, but installs fear and anxiety in the average person looking for good health. I know of a woman in her late 60s, who attends gym three times a week and swims twice a week, to stave off osteoporosis and whatever else; she is exhausted and losing weight that she should hang onto (she is quite slender). The health mania can be grossly exaggerated to the phrase: "More is better" with respect to diet, drugs, exercise, self-contemplation of one's health status, fear of disease and so on.
The pharmaceutical and medical world has a lot to answer for, sometimes.

Ditto that Nari, I see ads on TV for something called "Social Anxiety Disorder." It used to be called, feeling awkward or shy, and the treatment used to be, get over yourself. :)

...which is why I tend to be rather cynical about health promotion, and organising groups of people to hear information from others about what to do with/to themselves.
I think we are stealing, to some degree, their right to decide for themselves. The hard liners and fast-food cola addicts aren't going to take any notice anyway.
